How to Delete and Reorder PDF Pages

Add the file and list the pages to remove. You can mix individual numbers and ranges in one go, such as 2,4-6. Before deleting, enlarge the page and confirm its content instead of trusting a small thumbnail; in scanned documents it is very easy to remove a valid page that looks similar.

After downloading the result, inspect the pages either side of every deletion: if a sentence breaks off at the bottom of one page and resumes oddly on the next, you removed something you needed. The original file is unchanged, so you can start over.

Specify the new sequence and the pages are rearranged accordingly. Thinking in sections rather than individual pages produces fewer mistakes: cover, contents, main text, appendices. Get the sections into position first, then refine within them.

One thing to note: reordering does not update numbers printed on the pages. If you need numbering that matches the new flow, add page numbers after reordering. Doing those two steps in the opposite order leaves an inconsistent document.

Rotate pages by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. Leaving the page field empty rotates the whole document; list specific page numbers when only a few scans came out wrong.

This is not the same as the rotate button in a PDF reader. That button only changes your on-screen view and is not written to the file, so the pages still appear sideways for whoever you send the document to. Permanent correction requires processing the file.

When you combine these operations, sequence matters. Delete the unnecessary pages first, then arrange what remains, then rotate anything sideways, and add page numbers last.

Working in the opposite order creates rework: numbering before deleting leaves gaps in the sequence, and deleting after reordering means reviewing the arrangement again. Reviewing the thumbnails end to end after each step catches a mistake before it is carried into the next one.
